Château Bouscaut is located in the French commune of Cadaujac in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.
The Pessac-Léognan appellation was only founded in September 1987. This means that all vintages before that belong to the Graves appellation.
With the first wine from Chateau Bouscaut - also known as "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the classification of Graves wines in 1953. Since then, the first wines (a white wine and a red wine) have belonged to the Cru Classé de Graves. The classification of wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines produced.
The grape varieties Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) and Malbec (10%) are grown for red wine on an area of around 47 hectares. Sémillon (50%) and Sauvignon Blanc (50%) are used for white wine. Around 100,000 bottles of the first wine are produced as red wine and 20,000 bottles of the first wine as white wine each year. The second wines from Château Bouscaut "Les Chênes de Bouscaut" do not belong to the Cru Classé de Graves. Around 60,000 bottles of red wine and 25,000 bottles of white wine are produced from this wine.
