Château de Myrat is located in the French commune of Barsac in western France. The winery belongs to the Sauternes appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.
By the way: You often find the information on the Internet that Chateau de Myrat belongs to the Barsac appellation, but this is not the case. The Sauternes appellation is clearly stated on the wine labels and the winery's website. The winery itself belongs to the municipality of Barsac, which is probably the reason why this error exists.
With the first wine from Chateau de Myrat - also known as "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the Bordeaux classification in 1855. Since then, this dessert wine has belonged to the Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. The classification of Bordeaux wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines produced.
The grape varieties Sémillon (88%), Sauvignon Blanc (8%) and Muscadelle (4%) are grown on an area of approximately 22 hectares.
