Collection: Clos Fourtet
Clos Fourtet is located in the French commune of Saint-Émilion in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.
With the first wine from Clos Fourtet - also called "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the classification of Saint-Émilion wines in 1955. Since 1955, this red wine has belonged to the Premier Grand Cru Classé B. The classification of Bordeaux wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines produced.
The grape varieties Merlot (85%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Cabernet Franc (5%) are grown on an area of around 18 hectares. Around 30,000 bottles of the "Grand Vin" are produced annually. The second wine from Clos Fourtet, "Closerie de Fourtet", however, never belonged to the 1st Grand Cru Classé B. Around 15,000 bottles of the second wine are bottled annually.
