Collection: Château Mouton-Rothschild

Château Mouton-Rothschild is located in the French commune of Pauillac in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Pauillac appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.

With the first wine from Chateau Mouton Rothschild - also known as "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the Bordeaux classification in 1855 and belonged to the Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. In 1973, the winery was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé by the then Minister of Agriculture Jacques Chirac. The classification of Bordeaux wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines grown.

The grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Merlot (12%), Cabernet Franc (9%) and Petit Verdot (2%) are grown on an area of around 84 hectares. Around 300,000 bottles of the "Grand Vin" are produced every year. However, the second wine from Château Mouton-Rothschild, "Le Petit Mouton", does not belong to the 1st Grand Cru Classé. A white wine called "Aile d'Argent" is also produced.
