Collection: Château Mouton Rothschild

Château Mouton Rothschild is located in the French commune of Pauillac in western France. The winery belongs to the Pauillac appellation and is situated in the Bordeaux wine region.

With its first wine – also known as "Grand Vin" – Château Mouton Rothschild was admitted to the Bordeaux Classification in 1855 as a Deuxième Grand Cru Classé. In 1973, the winery was promoted to 1er Grand Cru Classé by the then Minister of Agriculture, Jacques Chirac. The classification of Bordeaux wine by quality levels is intended to illustrate the quality and price level of the wines produced.

On an area of approximately 84 hectares, the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Merlot (12%), Cabernet Franc (9%), and Petit Verdot (2%) are cultivated. Approximately 300,000 bottles of the "Grand Vin" are produced annually. However, Château Mouton Rothschild's second wine, "Le Petit Mouton," does not belong to the 1er Grand Cru Classé. A white wine called "Aile d’Argent" is also produced.
