Collection: Château la Mission Haut-Brion

Château la Mission Haut-Brion is located in the French commune of Talence in western France. The winery belongs to the Pessac-Léognan appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.

The Pessac-Léognan appellation was only founded in September 1987. This means that all vintages before that belong to the Graves appellation.

With the first wine from Chateau la Mission Haut Brion - also known as "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the classification of Graves wines in 1953. Since then, the first wine has belonged to the Cru Classé de Graves. The classification of wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines produced.

Various grape varieties are grown on an area of approximately 29.18 hectares. The red wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon (48%), Merlot (41%) and Cabernet Franc (11%). Around 42,000 bottles are sold annually.

Château la Mission Haut-Brion also produces a second wine. This is called "La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion". 2005 was the last vintage of the red wine from the Château la Tour Haut-Brion winery. This red wine was also classified in the Cru Classé de Graves. Since then, its grapes have been used in the first wine and second wine of Chateau la Mission Haut Brion.

In addition, the winery also produces a white wine called "Château la Mission Haut-Brion", whose grapes actually come from the former Château Laville Haut-Brion winery. In 2009, Château Laville Haut-Brion was stopped. With its white wine, the winery was represented in the Cru Classé de Graves at that time.

Last but not least, together with Château Haut-Brion, Château la Mission Haut-Brion produces a white wine that is marketed as a second wine and is called "La Carté de Haut-Brion". It used to be called "Les Plantiers du Haut-Brion".
