Château Figeac is located in the French commune of Saint-Émilion in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.
With the first wine from Chateau Figeac - also called "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the classification of Saint-Émilion wines in 1955. From 1955 to 2021, this red wine belonged to the Premier Grand Cru Classé B. In 2022, the winery was promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé A. The classification of Bordeaux wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines grown.
The grape varieties Cabernet Franc (35%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) and Merlot (30%) are grown on an area of around 41 hectares. Around 100,000 bottles of the "Grand Vin" are produced annually. However, Château Figeac's second wine, "Petit Figeac", never belonged to the 1st Grand Cru Classé.
From 1945 to 2011 there was another second wine called "La Grange Neuve de Figeac". Since 2006 there has been the cuvée "Petit Figeac", which has been available as the only second wine since 2012.
