Collection: Château d'Armailhac

Château d'Armailhac is located in the French commune of Pauillac in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Pauillac appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.

In 1933, Château Mouton-d'Armailhac was bought by Baron Philippe de Rothschild. In 1956, the winery was given the name Château Mouton Baron Philippe until it was renamed Château Mouton Baronne Philippe after his wife in 1975. Finally, in 1989, the estate was given back the name Château d'Armailhac. This often leads to confusion, as the parts of the name "Mouton" and "Rothschild" on the labels of earlier vintages often lead buyers to confuse it with Château Mouton-Rothschild.

The winery was included in the Bordeaux classification in 1855 with the red wine from Chateau d' Armailhac. Since then, this Bordeaux wine has belonged to the Cinquième Grand Cru Classé. The classification of Bordeaux wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines produced.

The grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (53%), Merlot (34%), Cabernet Franc (11%) and Petit Verdot (2%) are grown on an area of around 50 hectares. Around 220,000 bottles are produced annually.
