Collection: Château Ausone

Château Ausone is located in the French commune of Saint-Émilion in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.

With the first wine from Chateau Ausone - also called "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the classification of Saint-Émilion wines in 1955. From 1955 to 2021, this red wine belonged to the Premier Grand Cru Classé A. The classification of Bordeaux wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines grown. However, in June 2021, the winery did not submit an application for the classification of Bordeaux wine from Saint-Émilion. For this reason, the labels of wine bottles from the 2022 vintage onwards will no longer indicate a quality level.

The grape varieties Merlot (50%) and Cabernet Franc (50%) are grown on an area of around 7.3 hectares. Around 18,000 bottles of the "Grand Vin" are produced annually. However, the second wine of Château Ausone, "Chapelle d'Ausone", never belonged to the 1st Grand Cru Classé A. Around 7,000 bottles of the second wine are bottled annually.
