Collection: Château Margaux

Château Margaux is located in the French commune of Margaux-Cantenac in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Margaux appellation of the same name and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.

With the first wine from Chateau Margaux - also known as "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the Bordeaux classification in 1855. Since then, this red wine has belonged to the Premier Grand Cru Classé. The classification of Bordeaux wine according to quality levels is intended to clarify the quality and price level of the wines grown.

The grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), Merlot (20%), Petit Verdot (3%) and Cabernet Franc (2%) are grown for red wine on an area of around 87 hectares. An additional 12 hectares are used for the white wine "Pavillon Blanc". This is the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety.

Around 200,000 bottles of the “Grand Vin” are produced every year. However, the second wine of Château Margaux, “Pavillon Rouge”, does not belong to the 1er Grand Cru Classé.
