Château Lafite-Rothschild is located in the French commune of Pauillac in the west of France. The winery belongs to the Pauillac appellation and is located in the Bordeaux wine-growing region.

With the first wine from Chateau Lafite Rothschild - also known as "Grand Vin" - the winery was included in the Bordeaux classification in 1855. Since then, this red wine has belonged to the Premier Grand Cru Classé. The grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon (71%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%) are grown on an area of ​​around 116 hectares. Around 300,000 bottles of the "Grand Vin" are produced annually. The second wine from Château Lafite-Rothschild, "Carruades de Lafite", does not belong to the 1st Grand Cru Classé. Around 200,000 bottles of this wine are produced.
